The Basic workshop
Beginner
This course is ideal for those who want to improve their presentation skills, deal with shyness, rediscover their creative side, or learn the fundamentals of acting technique. Focusing on movement and voice exercises, and improvisation, this very physical course, de-emphasizes the "script" and emphasizes what the performer brings to the script. This personalizing of the work is the foundation of all future creative work.
Level One
Building on the foundation of the Beginner Level courses, or previous training, the Level 1 course focuses on Advanced Improvisation, Establishing Present Tense with an Acting Partner, the Fundamentals of Text Work, and Scene and Monologue Study. Obviously this is a great deal to cover in a ten-week session, so the class is structured with the expectation of needing the entire year to get through all the material. This is a challenging class for students who are very interested in the acting process.
Level Two
For the very experienced student actor, this course builds upon the foundation of the previous two levels, dealing with Audition Monologues, Methods of Rehearsal, and focusing very specifically on the acting issues of the students. This is a flexible program, which can be adapted to meet the interests and needs of the students involved. Students in this course will be expected to make time to rehearse with scene partners outside of class.
